The Pepper Foundation was launched in 1994 off the back of successful Sergeant Pepper concerts, which have since become a local annual community event. The Pepper Foundation's fundraising continues throughout the year and this has enabled Pepper to fund the Iain Rennie paediatric team ever since.
Six Iain Rennie Pepper Children's nurses have cared for nearly 200 youngsters with life-limiting illness in that time, their salaries all funded by the Pepper Foundation. In addition, Pepper funds part of our Family Support team, ensuring that siblings and parents have the help they need right from referral to bereavement and beyond. This service includes sibling support groups, play therapy and counselling.
Robert Breakwell , IRGH Chief Executive, says: “I am delighted, from a personal and professional perspective, that the Trustees of the Pepper Foundation and Iain Rennie Grove House Hospice Care have renewed the contract which enables the two charities to continue caring for local children with life-limiting illness and supporting their families. IRHH has been helping families coping with life-threatening illness for 26 years, and as a former carer myself, I know just how much of a lifeline the 24/7 Iain Rennie nursing service can be.
And now IRHH has merged with Grove House - extending the Iain Rennie model of hospice care at home further into Herts and giving more adult patients the choice to stay at home - our next step is to seek additional funding to extend our paediatric nursing service too.”
We want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported the Pepper Foundation and IRGH in the past. Thanks to your generous donations, we hope to be ‘working together, caring together' to benefit more patients than ever over the coming years.
