Specialist nurses needed to join our teams Following a successful appeal to our loyal supporters we have been able to recruit new nurses to work a dedicated night shift, visiting patients who call the hospice on its out-of-hours nursing line between 9pm and 7am any night of the year.
Now we are seeking additional specialist nurses to cover the early and evening shifts too, because a continued increase in the number of patients wishing to access the charity's free service means further expansion is vital.
Director of Nursing Sue Varvel explains: “For the last two years patient numbers have risen by 10% on average – and six months into this financial year we have seen a 12% increase. So it really is vital that we recruit as soon as we can to ensure we could help new patients as soon as they need us.”
We now need to expand our nursing teams during core hours: two shifts covering 7am to 9pm. We are seeking registered Band 5 Nurses with excellent communication skills and a special interest in palliative care to join our hospice at home teams in S t Albans, Harpenden, Wycombe, Risborough, Wendover, Great Missenden, Aston Clinton and surrounding areas. We also need bank nurses who can offer cover at weekends and overnight.
If you are a qualified nurse and would be interested in working for a charity that gives patients with life-threatening illness the choice to be cared for at home, please contact our HR team on 01494 877200.
